Including these details usually saves a round trip: your macOS version (Apple menu → About This Mac), your Mac model, what you did, what you expected, and what happened instead.

Requirements

Chorsu requires macOS 26 or later on Apple silicon. Natural-language parsing is English-only. It runs as a menu-bar app, so it has no Dock icon unless you turn one on in Settings. Apple Intelligence is optional.

Common questions

The quick capture shortcut does nothing

Another app has most likely claimed the same key combination. Open Chorsu Settings → Quick capture and record a different one; if Chorsu reports that a combination could not be registered, that is the conflict. Chorsu uses the standard macOS shortcut mechanism, so it needs no Accessibility or Input Monitoring permission — a registered but silent shortcut is a conflict, not a permission problem.

Chorsu also refuses unsafe combinations: use F1–F20 on their own, or pair Command or Control with another modifier. Editing and navigation keys such as Return, Tab, Delete, Escape, and the arrows are reserved by the system.

Reminders are not appearing

Check Chorsu Settings → Notifications. If it reads “Denied in macOS Settings”, macOS is blocking them: open System Settings → Notifications → Chorsu, allow notifications, then return to Chorsu. macOS notification delivery is best effort, so treat Chorsu’s own lists — particularly Newly Unblocked — as the reliable record of what is ready, rather than the banners.

If you never saw a permission prompt, that is expected: Chorsu asks only the first time you save a capture that actually needs a notification, rather than at first launch.

A related point of confusion: Chorsu’s reminders are its own local notifications. They do not appear in Apple’s Reminders app, and Chorsu does not read or write your Apple Reminders or Calendar.

Does routing or date parsing need Apple Intelligence?

No. Chorsu uses local rules for English dates and local routing signals for project assignment. Both work with Apple Intelligence disabled. When the project is clear, Chorsu files the task automatically. When it is uncertain, it asks you to choose inside Quick Capture.

Optional Apple on-device model assistance can improve project suggestions. Settings → Intelligence shows its availability and offers Check Again. Model availability depends on your hardware, macOS, Apple Intelligence settings, and system language. Saving a capture never waits for a model, and reminders and dependencies keep working when it is unavailable.

A date was not recognized

Use an English phrase such as “tomorrow at 9 am” or “Friday at 2 pm”. Check the resolved day and time in the confirmation and correct it if needed. Unsupported wording may not create a reminder; turning on Apple Intelligence is not required for date parsing.

I opened Chorsu but no window appeared

Chorsu lives in the menu bar and has no Dock icon by default — look for its icon near the clock. If you would rather have a Dock icon, turn one on in Settings → Dock, which also puts Chorsu in the ⌘-Tab switcher.

I paid for Pro but it is not unlocked

Open the Chorsu Pro screen and choose Restore Purchase, and make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account that made the purchase. Billing, receipts, and refunds are handled by Apple — if you need a refund, request it through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.

What does the free tier include?

Currently three active projects at a time, with unlimited tasks, plus routing, reminders, dependencies, and the automatic comeback for unblocked work. Chorsu Pro is a one-time purchase that removes the active-project limit.

Reaching the limit never deletes anything — your existing projects and tasks stay exactly as they are, and only creating another active project is blocked. Archiving a project frees a slot, and archived projects keep all their tasks, so nothing is lost. Bringing an archived project back needs a free slot again.

Where is my data, and how do I back it up?

Everything stays on your Mac in Chorsu’s own local database, and it is included in your normal Mac backups such as Time Machine. There is no Chorsu account and no sync, so a backup of your Mac is the way to protect your work.

How do I delete everything?

Chorsu Settings → Delete All Data erases your local content, settings, and notifications; it asks you to authenticate first, and it cannot be undone. Run it before uninstalling if you want a clean slate, because removing the app alone can leave its local data folder on your Mac. It does not remove your Chorsu Pro purchase — that stays with your Apple Account.

How do I turn off crash reports?

Chorsu Settings → Diagnostics. Turning off “Send crash reports” stops all future reports. What a report contains, and what is stripped from it, is described in the Privacy Policy.
